Course Description:

This two-day course teaches students measurement and analysis techniques that are useful for solving difficult machine vibration problems.  The course is a combination of lecture and demonstration.  The course covers many single and dual-channel techniques available on most vibration analyzers including:

  • Resonance testing methods including run-up or coast-down testing, negative averaging, Bode and Nyquist plots, peak hold averaging, single and dual channel impact testing.
  • Orbit measurements from non-contact displacement probes in sleeve bearings and magnet mounted accelerometers on a bearing housing.
  • Stress wave measurements for detection of bearing and gear defects.
  • Measuring and analyzing phase.
  • Configuring and using tachometer signals in diagnostic testing.

Tony is a highly skilled diagnostic measurement, signal analyst and technical training instructor with over 30 years of experience. He is accomplished in vibration measurement and analysis, modal analysis, operational deflection shape testing, acoustics, torsional analysis, dynamic balancing, transient capture, on-line monitoring and product defect analysis. He is experienced in a wide range of industries and equipment.
